Depart the USA on the overnight flight to London. Day 2 Arrive Nairobi An early arrival in London this morning gives you time to connect to the daytime flight to Nairobi, arriving in Kenya later this evening. You'll be met upon arrival in Nairobi and transferred to your hotel. Sleep well, as your adventure begins in the morning. (Passengers departing from cities west of the Mississippi may have to leave a day earlier and overnight in London at an additional cost.) Day 3 Nairobi-Amboseli (BLD) After a early breakfast our drive takes out of Nairobi towards the border with Tanzania. Just before we reach the border town of Namanga, we turn off and continue towards Amboseli, at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Our arrival around midday allows time to enjoy lunch and freshen up before we head out on the first game drive of our journey. Although Amboseli is one of Kenya's smaller national parks (about 151 square miles), it is a stunning park. Within its borders are five wildlife habitats: open plains, acacia woodland, marshes, the dry lake-bed of Lake Amboseli and rarely visited Ol Doinyo Orok. You'll probably spot the park's most famous residents almost immediately -- Amboseli hosts thousands of elephants and is where Cynthia Moss conducted most of her ground-breaking research on these fascinating mammals. Amboseli Sopa Lodge Day 4 Amboseli (BLD) Game viewing continues today with both morning and afternoon outings. Before you leave on a game drive, however, be sure to rise early this morning for glimpses of Mt. Kilimanjaro as it peaks out from under the clouds. Amboseli is one of the best places to actually get a good view of Tanzania's most famous mountain. On game drives today, you might also spot lions and cheetah. With plains game like zebra, gnu, waterbuck and both Thomsons and Grants gazelles, predators are never far away. Two special species to keep a look out for are the long-necked gerenuk and the fringer-eared oryx. Amboseli Sopa Lodge Day 5 Amboseli-Tarangire (BLD) We'll travel back to the border with Tanzania and cross into the border town of Namanga. From here, new vehicles will take us the rest of the way to Arusha, where we stop briefly for lunch before continuing to Tarangire and our tented camp. The Tarangire River runs through Tarangire National Park and is the prime attraction for wildlife from miles around. Thanks to the river's permanent water, Tarangire becomes extremely popular during the dry season when migrating animals visit the river's edge to quench their thirst. Lake Burunge Camp Day 6 Tarangire (BLD) In addition to a game drive today, you might also want to opt for a Nature Walk. Nature walks reveal a different side of the bush - where insects perform as vital a role as large animals. You'll learn how local tribes use roots and trees for medicinal purposes. And keep your eyes peeled, as birdlife in this area is spectacular and walks are perfect ways to spot some of the most beautiful birds in the area. Among those you might spot are the Paradise Whyder and Yellow-collared lovebirds. Lake Burunge Camp Day 7 Tarangire-Lake Manyara-Ngorongoro (BLD) Your drive takes you through Lake Manyara National Park for some game viewing and a stop for a picnic lunch. Watch for hippo in the Simba River, elephants in the forest and Cape buffalo on the open plains at Mahali pa Nyati, which means "the place of the buffalo" in Swahili. Birdwatchers, you have more than 400 species of birds to delight you. Then continue on to the Ngorongoro Conservation area where a thrilling day awaits tomorrow. Ngorongoro Farmhouse Day 8 Ngorongoro (BLD) Supporting more than 25,000 mammals, the Ngorongoro Crater is home to a wide variety of both herbivores and carnivores. Zebra, wildebeest, buffalo and eland are abundant. With such a rich food supply, carnivores like lion, hyenas and leopard are also at home in the crater. Watch for the kori bustard (the world's largest flying bird) to see if you can spot its elaborate territorial display during breeding season. Enjoy a morning on the crater floor, including a stop with a picnic lunch. On the way back to the lodge, we'll stop at a local Maasai Village where you'll have an opportunity to see how the enkang is built and perhaps even get a jumping lesson! Ngorongoro Farmhouse Day 9 Ngorongoro-Nairobi-Depart (BLD) Sadly, our journey ends all too soon as we drive back to Arusha, stopping for lunch before our drive continues to Nairobi. An early evening arrival in Nairobi gives you time to freshen up in our Partner Club Lounge before having dinner and transferring to the airport. Depart on the overnight flight to London. Club Lounge Day 10 Arrive USA Arrive in London early this morning where you connect to your homeward-bound flight, arriving later today.
