Depart the USA on the overnight flight to Cairo. Day 2 Arrive Cairo You will be warmly greeted and escorted to your hotel. Day 3 Cairo (BL) Begin the day with a visit to the Egyptian Museum and its priceless antiquities including King Tutankhamon’s Treasures. After lunch, visit Cheops’ Pyramid and the Sphinx. Day 4 Cairo (BL) We start the day with a visit to the Coptic Museum, which contains more than 16,000 pieces from Egypt’s Christian Era. Later, we stop at the “Hanging Church”, the most famous Coptic Church and the Ben Ezra Synagogue . Day 5 Cairo (BL) Our visits today focus on the Islamic side of Cairo. We’ll stop at the Museum of Islamic art, the Mohamed Ali Mosque and Gayer Anderson House. Day 6 Cairo-Sakkara-Alexandria (BL) After a morning visit to Memphis, first capital of ancient Egypt and the metropolis of Sakkara, we continue by road to Alexandria, home of Alexander the Great. Day 7 Alexandria (BL) Our visits in Alexandria include the National Museum, where more than 1,600 artifacts depicting Alexandria’s rich history are on display. We also stop at Pompey’s Pillar, one of the few monuments of ancient Alexandria left. Day 8 Alexandria-Luxor (BL) This morning, we’ll stop at the beautiful Montazah Palace gardens before returning to Cairo. Continue by air to Luxor. Day 9 Luxor (B) This morning, you’ll have time to browse through the Museum of Luxor before an afternoon at leisure. Day 10 Denderah & Abydos Excursion (BL) Denderah & Abydos (BL) Abydos is considered one of the most important archeological sites of ancient Egypt and it is our first stop this morning. Then it’s on to Denderah to see one of Egypt’s best preserved temples. Return to Luxor in the evening. Day 11 Luxor: Embark (BLD) This morning, visit the Valley of the Kings and Queens where some 64 of Egypt’s Pharaohs have their palatial resting places hewn into the sheer rock. Embark on your cruise vessel and have lunch before visiting Luxor and Karnak Temples. Day 12 Luxor-Edfu (BLD) Sail to Edfu via Esna lock. Day 13 Edfu-Kom Ombo-Aswan (BLD) An exhilarating carriage ride takes you through town to the Temple of Horus, the Falcon God. Return to your ship and sail to Kom Ombo to visit the Graeco - Roman style Temple of Sobek, the Crocodile God. Later, sail to Aswan. Day 14 Aswan (BLD) This morning, visit Aswan’s High Dam, the ancient Granite Quarries, and the Temple of Philae. After lunch enjoy a sail around Elephantine Island. Day 15 Aswan-Abu Simbel-Cairo (B) Disembark after breakfast and take a short flight to Abu Simbel to marvel at the temples and colossal statues of Ramses II and his wife Queen Nefertari. Later, fly back to Cairo. Day 16 Cairo-Santa Katharina-Taba (BLD) We cross the Red Sea early this morning and continue by motorcoach to the Sinai Peninsula and the fortified monastery of Santa Katherina which has sheltered Christian monks since the Sixth Century. Continue to Taba for the night. (Entry is at the discretion of the resident monks.) Inter-Continental Taba Day 17 Petra Excursion (BD) Enjoy the day at Petra, carved out of the craggy rock mountains south of the Dead Sea by the Nabataean traders more than 2000 years ago. Inter-Continental Taba Day 18 Taba-Cairo Return to Cairo where the remainder of the evening is at leisure. Day 19 Cairo-USA Depart early this morning for New York, arriving later today.
