Day 1  Depart USA
Your journey begins as you fly across the Atlantic this evening.

Day 2  Arrive Nairobi
An early morning touchdown in London today. Transfer to the connecting flight to Nairobi, arriving in Kenya late this evening. (Due to flight connecting times, passengers departing from gateways west of the Mississippi may have to depart the USA one night earlier.) Jambo and welcome to Kenya. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Get a good night's sleep.
Day 3  Nairobi (BD)
After a leisurely morning, travel to the suburb of Karen for a short visit to the Karen Blixen Museum. You'll have an opportunity to walk through the house where much of her furniture remains - along with a few props from the stunning movie, Out of Africa. Then it's on to the Giraffe Center for a treat - feeding the giraffes from an elevated platform. Return to your hotel later this afternoon, where the evening is at leisure.
Day 4  Nairobi-Mutamaiyu House (Laikipia) (BLD)
A morning flight takes you to one of the last great wilderness areas in Kenya - the 49,000 acre Mugie Wildlife Conservancy in Laikipia. These rugged plains and lush woodlands are home to some of the richest diversities of wildlife on the continent including the big five with the endangered black rhino. Your visit to Mutamaiyu is special not only because it's one of the few places where you have the opportunity to see black rhino, but also because your accommodations are very much a part of the journey. Mutamaiyu was built several years ago by an American couple who fulfilled their lifelong dream to invest in a wildlife haven and have their own "piece of land" in Africa. Guests are accommodated in four African-style cottages with traditional "makuti" (palm leaves) over a vaulted frame. You'll feel right at home, enjoying the books and music that are part of the family's collection.
Day 5  Mutamaiyu House (Laikipia) (BLD)
There are a variety of choices available to you today, including a tradtional game drive. But, because you are on a private conservancy, there are opportunities for game walks and other interesting activities. If you have never tried a walk, Mugie is the perfect place to start. A walk can last an hour or all day, depending on what you prefer. Walks are tailor-made depending on your level of fitness and what you'd like to see. You might also want to try a camel safari - which can also be arranged for an hour or for a full day. This is a great way to experience the life of the traiditonal pastoralists of the area.
Day 6  Mutamaiyu House-Lake Naivasha (BLD)
After breakfast, a light aircraft flight takes you to Nairobi where you connect to the flight to Naivasha, where you'll be met and transferred to your luxury lodge set just above the shores of Lake Naivasha. Chui Lodge sits in the private 20,000 acre Oserian Wildlife Sanctuary. As you might expect from it's name (Chui is the Swahili name for leopard), there are good opportunities to see leopard here, along with white rhino, cheetah and more.
Day 7  Lake Naivasha (BLD)
The full day gives you time to experience a variety of activities. You can take a game drive or a bush walk or perhaps a boat ride on Lake Naivasha. A fun activity is a visit to the Oserian Flower Farm, one of the largest growers of cut flowers in the world!
Day 8  Lake Naivasha-Masai Mara (BLD)
After a leisurely start today, a light aircraft flight takes you to the amazing Masai Mara, Kenya's "crown jewel" of game-viewing areas. A short ride takes you from the airstrip to your luxury lodge on the banks of the Mara River. Settle in and freshen up before heading out on an afternoon game drive.
Day 9 & 10  Masai Mara (BLD)
Two full days in the Mara give you time to search for game on game drives and guided bush walks or to simply relax and enjoy the surroundings of the lodge. The lodge combines the classic tented safari camp experience with the amenities of a lodge, providing guests with a unique experience. Of course, game viewing is the main attraction in the Masai Mara, and the Royal Mara Safari Lodge location couldn't be better. Close to Leopard Gorge (of Big Cat Diary fame on BBC), the surrounding area is teeming with both predators and plains game. Your guides can regal you with stories about the local lion prides and the latest addition of a baby white rhino. Back at the lodge, you might want to read a good book as you lounge on your private verandah and watch game walk by.Day 11  Masai Mara-Depart (BD)
All too soon, the journey comes to an end as you transfer to the airstrip for the flight back to Nairobi. You'll have time to freshen up in our special lounge before having dinner and transferring to the airport.

Day 12  Arrive USA
Arrive in London this morning and continue on the USA-bound flight, arriving later today. Welcome Home!
