 Upon arrival at Juan Santamaria International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure. Britannia Hotel Day 2 Poás Volcano Excursion (BL) A ride past coffee, sugar and strawberry plantations takes you to Poás Volcano National Park, where you spend the day exploring and soaking in the views of breathtaking waterfalls that feed La Paz River. Britannia Hotel Day 3 San Jose-Carcovado National Park (BLD) A light aircraft flight takes you to Palmar Sur, from where a combination of boat/land transfer takes you to your lodge near the park. Welcome to the world’s tallest rainforest, Corcovado National Park. Aguila de Osa Inn Day 4 Carcovado National Park (BLD) A full day to explore Corcovado National Park - one of the wettest areas in Costa Rica and one of the few remaining sizeable areas of lowland tropical rainforests. Aguila de Osa Inn Day 5 Ballena Marine National Park (B) Travel by boat and road back to Palmar Sur and then onto Ballena Marine National Park - a small marine park of sandy and pebble beaches, mangroves and a coral reef. Attracted by the warm waters, whales and dolphins swim very close to shore. Cristal Ballena Day 6 Ballena Marine National Park (B) A leisurely day to enjoy some optional activities or just relax around the pool. Cristal Ballena Day 7 Quetzals National Park (B) Your drive takes you into the Central Highlands and the Quetzals National Park area. This is a birdwater’s delight - it’s the home of the resplendent Quetzal, which inhabits the area year round. Savegre Mountain Lodge Day 8 Quetzals National Park A nature walk this morning should reveal many of the more than 170 species of birds found in the area. The landscape is ever changing as migratory birds like Orioles, Warblers, Tennessees and Raptors stop for a visit while the “home” birds like Long-tailed Silky-Flycatcher and Flame-throated Warbler as well as the famous Quetzal are always here to delight us. Savegre Mountain Lodge Day 9 San Jose (B) A transfer takes you back to San Jose for a final evening at leisure. Britannia Hotel Day 10 Depart San Jose Transfer to Juan Santamaria International Airport and departure from Costa Rica.
