Day 1  Depart USA
Depart the USA on your overnight transatlantic flight.

Day 2  Enroute
Arrive in Europe early this morning. After a day on your own, depart this evening on the overnight flight to Nairobi.
Sofitel London Heathrow
(day room)

Day 3  Arrive Nairobi (LD)
Arrive in Nairobi early this morning, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. After included lunch, travel out to the Ngong Hills and visit the former home of Karen von Blixen, now a museum. Then, continue to the Giraffe Center where you have the opportunity to feed the Rothschild giraffe from an elevated platform. Return to the hotel late this afternoon. Later this evening, enjoy a unique dining experience at the Carnivore Restaurant - taste ostrich and zebra as well as beef, pork and chicken.
Day 4  Nairobi-Amboseli (BLD)
A light aircraft flight takes you south to Amboseli National Park at the foot of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The park may be best known for its herds of elephants and the ground-breaking research begun by Cynthia Moss in the early 1970's. Along with these gentle giants, other plains game such as zebra, wildebeest and buffalo are in abundance.
Day 5  Amboseli (BLD)
This is one of the best places from which to see the snow-capped peak of Mt. Kilimanjaro - rise early to catch the first views as the cloud cover lifts to reveal this impressive mountain. On game drives you will have the opportunity to observe the behavior of the giant elephants in the area, as well as look for predators such as lions and hyenas.
Day 6  Amboseli-Samburu (BLD)
A light aircraft flight takes you to Nairobi where you stop for lunch before continuing by light aircraft to Samburu National Reserve. The broad Uaso Nyiro River (which means "river of brown water") cuts through the reserve providing life to this dry, arid environment. As you game drive along the river, watch the tree branches carefully, as a leopard may be taking a siesta in one of them.
Day 7  Samburu (BLD)
Morning and afternoon game drives are included today. Samburu's intimate size makes game viewing easier. Along with the larger plains mammals like buffalo, greater kudu, lesser kudu and elephant, you will most likely see species unique to Samburu such as the Grevy's zebra (look for the oversized ears and thinner stripes), the gerenuk and the reticulated giraffe (easy to spot because its pattern forms a very distinctly-lined patchwork).
Day 8  Samburu-Masai Mara (BLD)
After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip to board your light aircraft flight to the Masai Mara. Welcome to Kenya's most famous park and the northern extension to Tanzania's Serengeti National Park. During your game drive this afternoon, the panorama of rolling grasslands and bush-covered hills will reveal a host of mammals such as topi, buffalo, elephant, giraffe, hyena and much more.
Day 9  Masai Mara (BLD)
You might want to consider starting the day off with an optional balloon safari. On morning and afternoon game drives you might spot cheetah stalking impala or dik-dik on the open plains, or find a pride of lions taking a siesta in the afternoon sun.
Day 10  Masai Mara-Serengeti (BLD)
This morning, transfer by road to the Isebania border post and cross into Tanzania. Stop for a picnic lunch enroute, arriving at your lodge late this afternoon.
Day 11  Serengeti (BLD)
Rise early this morning to enjoy a game drive as the animals begin to stir across the expansive plains of the Serengeti. You'll have time to relax at your lodge during the heat of the day before heading out on an afternoon game drive. Game is abundant in the Serengeti: wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala will all dot the horizon. The predators are found here as well and you will almost certainly spot lion during your stay.
Day 12  Serengeti-Ngorongoro (BLD)
Your drive this morning takes you to Olduvai Gorge, site of one of the world's most important archaeological discoveries. After more than 28 years of sifting through fossils and bones, Mary and Louis Leaky discovered "homo habilis" (Handy Man) in this dry valley. Continue on to the Ngorongoro Conservation area for dinner and overnight.
Day 13  Ngorongoro (BLD)
A highlight awaits you this morning, as you descend through the early morning mists 2,000 feet to the crater floor for a full day of game viewing in what has been called the world's largest zoo without bars, contained in a natural amphitheater.
Day 14  Ngorongoro-Lake Manyara (BLD)
Drive through the highlands today, stopping at a local village. Enjoy a traditional village lunch before continuing to Lake Manyara.
Day 15  Lake Manyara-Depart (BLD)
Travel Arusha where you continue by light aircraft flight to Nairobi where you will arrive in the late afternoon. There is time to freshen up before transferring to the airport for departure on your overnight flight to London.
Day 16  Arrive USA
Arrive in London early this morning and transfer to your USA-bound flight, arriving later today.
