Day 2 Arrive Windhoek Arrive in London this morning where day rooms are available so you can freshen up and relax a bit in between flights. Later this evening, depart on the overnight flight to Johannesburg. Sofitel London Heathrow (Day Room)Day 3 Arrive Windhoek (BLD) Arrive in Johannesburg early this morning. Continue on the scheduled flight to Windhoek, Namibia, arriving later this afternoon. You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel where the remainder of the day is at leisure. Get a good night's sleep tonight as a wonderful adventure begins in the morning. Hotel Heinitzburg Day 4 Windhoek-Sossusvlei (Namib Desert) (BLD) A light aircraft flight takes you to Sossusvlei and the Namib - one of the most fascinating and scenically distinctive places on earth. The constantly shifting sand dunes of Sossusvlei are said to be the highest in the world - some over 1000 feet high. Little Kulala Camp Day 5 Namib Desert (BLD) Why not rise early this morning and enjoy an optional hot air ballon safari over the sand dunes? Then, choose from included activities such as a game drive that focuses on the desert game and desert-adapted flora and fauna. Look for plants like the welwitschia, said to live for 2,000 years - during which time it produces only two leaves! Little Kulala Camp Day 6 Namib-Swakopmund & Damaraland (BLD) This morning’s flight takes you along the Skeleton Coast for some of the most dramatic “sky-viewing” in the world. Search for seals and dolphins on a boat trip in Swakopmund before flying to Damaraland. Desert Rhino Camp Day 7 Damaraland (BLD) From your camp endless vistas unfold against stark plains and ancient valleys. Chances are good for encountering the endangered Desert Elephant - said to be able to go up to four days without water. Desert Rhino Camp Day 8 Damaraland-Etosha National Park (BLD) A light aircraft flight takes you to Ongava Game Reserve and nearby Etosha National Park. One of the largest parks in Africa, Etosha is perhaps most famous for the Etosha Pan - a shallow depression of over 1900 square miles. Later, enjoy a game drive in Etosha. Day 9 Etosha National Park (BLD) More game viewing in Etosha this morning. With some luck, you might spot the black rhino or the black-faced impala, both rare species. Bird watchers will delight in the almost 340 species found in Etosha. Day 10 Etosha-Windhoek-Johannesburg (B) A light aircraft flight takes you back to Windhoek. Later this evening, fly to Johannesburg. Day 11 Depart Johannesburg (B) This morning, we'll visit the township of Soweto, where we will stop at the Hector Peterson Museum and visit Regina Mondi Church, site of many of the underground meetings of the then banned political parties. Return to the hotel for an afternoon at leisure until your transfer to the airport to depart on the overnight flight to London. Day 12 Arrive USA Touchdown early this morning in London where you connect to your homeward-bound flight, arriving back in the USA later today.
