Day 2 En Route Arrive in London early this morning where day rooms are available until you continue on this evening’s flight to Johannesburg. Sofitel London Heathrow (Day Room) Day 3 Arrive Johannesburg Welcome to South Africa! Touch down in Johannesburg this morning. After clearing customs and immigrations, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to rest and get ready for the adventure ahead! Protea Hotel Wanderers Day 4 Johannesburg-Mpumalanga (BD) An early departure takes us towards Pretoria, South Africa's capital city, for a short orientation tour before continuing on to Mpumalanga. The drive takes us through historic towns of Dullstroom and Lydenburg and over the famous Long Tom Pass. Later this afternoon, explore the old mining village of Pilgrim's Rest, where gold was first discovered. Royal Hotel Day 5 Mpumalanga-Kruger National Park (BD) Incredible sights away today as our drive takes us through the forested mountains of God's Window before we stop at stunning Blyde River Canyon, one of Africa's natural wonders and the third largest canyon in the world. We'll arrive at our hotel just near the gates of Kruger National Park later today. Perry's Bridge Hollow Day 6 Kruger National Park (B) Have your binoculars in hand as you set off on a full day of game viewing in open safari vehicles. While you check off the Big Five, watch for the Birding Big Six: Ground Hornbill, Kori Bustard, Lappet- faced Vulture, Martial Eagle, Pel’s Fishing Owl and Saddle-bill Stork. Perry's Bridge Hollow Day 7 Kruger National Park - Kingdom of Swaziland (BLD) A treat awaits as we spend the night in the tiny Kingdom of Swaziland. Among our stops today is the famous Ngwenya Glass Factory where you will have an opportunity watch master craftsmen turn discarded soda bottles into works of art. The day ends in the beautiful Ezulwini Valley. Lugogo Sun Day 8 Kingdom of the Zulu's (B) After a stop at the Swazi Candle Factory, we travel through KwaZulu-Natal into the Kingdom of the Zulu’s before arriving in St. Lucia. The Greater St. Lucia Wetlands is South Africa’s oldest nature reserve and a world heritage site. Later this afternoon, enjoy an open safari vehicle game drive in the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Park. Elephant Lake Hotel Day 9 Durban (B) Enjoy a morning cruise on the lake this morning before we continue by road to Duban, where the afternoon is at leisure. Royal Palm Day 10 Durban-Knysna (BD) Late this morning, fly to Port Elizabeth. Our drive takes us through the indigenous Tsitsikamma Forest area to Knysna, one of South Africa's most beautiful resort cities. Knysna Hollow Hotel Day 11 Knysna (BL) Set between lush forest and the Knysna Lagoon, the town of Knysna is one of South Africa’s favorite pleasure destinations. A cruise on the Knysna Lagoon gives you a unique view of the "Heads" - two great sandstone cliffs which guard the mouth of the lagoon. Visit Featherbed Nature Reserve where you’ll have a chance to soak in the spectacular views of the town below. Knysna Hollow Hotel Day 12 Knysna-Oudtshoorn (BL) Driving via the Outeniqua Pass, our journey takes us to Oudtshoorn, the "feather capital of the world". You’ll learn alot about the ostrich industry on a guided tour of a farm before continuing on to another fascinating sight - the Cango Caves. An underground tour allows you to marvel at these icy formations. Oudtshoorn Inn Day 13 Oudtshoorn-Cape Town (B) A feast for the eyes as we drive to Cape Town. Depending on the season, your drive will take you via Hermanus where you might just spot the southern right whales frolicing offshore (between July to November) or you'll enjoy South Africa's version of our scenic Route 66. Protea President Hotel Day 14 Cape Town (BD) As we leave Cape Town and drive along the jagged Atlantic coastline, our first stop is at Hout Bay, where you can opt for a tour to Seal Island to enjoy the antics of the island’s residents. The next stop is Boulders Beach for a visit with the "formal residents" - the penguins. On through Simonstown to Cape Pointe before returning to the hotel. Protea President Hotel Day 15 Cape Town (B) The picturesque winelands provide a wonderful backdrop for today’s full day tour. You’ll have a chance to sample wine from two well known wine estates in Paarl and Stellenbosch. It might tempt you enough to bring some home! Protea President Hotel Day 16 Cape Town-Depart Our adventure ends today but memories will last a lifetime. The morning is at leisure until you are transferred to the airport for the overnight flight to London. Day 17 Arrive USA Touch down in London early this morning where you will connect to your USA-bound flight, arriving later today. Welcome home.
