Day 4  Nairobi-Samburu BLD
A light aircraft flight takes you north to the small but game-filled Samburu National Reserve for two nights under canvas. Your tented camp sits alongside the Uaso Nyiro River and provides excellent game-viewing opportunities from the camp itself. This afternoon, your first game drive is sure to delight as you search for leopard, lion, cheetah.
Samburu Intrepids Club

Day 5  Samburu BLD
On your game drives today, look for the Grevys zebra (distinguished by its oversized ears) and the Beisa Oryx. Also unique to this area of Kenya is the gerenuk (part of the antelope family) which spends much of its time standing on its hind legs eating from the upper branches of trees. The distinctly-lined pattern of the reticulated giraffe will help you identify this species from its more common cousin, the Masai giraffe.

Day 6  Samburu-Rift Valley BLD
A light aircraft flight takes you back to Nairobi where you continue by road to the Great Rift Valley, arriving in time for lunch. This afternoon, a guided nature walk and a trip on Lake Naivasha will delight as you spot many of the areas aquatic birds. The mystery about Lake Naivasha is that, although there is no obvious point where water flows out of the lake, the lake is actually fresh water and a rich source of irrigation for the farmlands which ring the lake.

Day 7  Rift Valley BLD
After breakfast, with picnic lunch in tow, travel to nearby Lake Nakuru National Park for a full day of game viewing. Lake Nakuru itself plays a central role in the National Park, and if you are lucky, you will see thousands of greater and lesser flamingoes congregated on the lake. The wide habitats in the park provide great game-viewing opportunities and among the rarer species, you might spot are Rothschild giraffe and black rhino. Impala, zebra, buffalo, leopard and lion also make their home here. Watch the tree tops for the exquisite black and white colubus monkey.

Day 9  Masai Mara BLD
Thanks to the variety of habitats (from rich riverine forests to expansive plains), the Masai Mara is host to a wide array of herbivores, carnivores and birdlife. At last count, there were over 95 species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians along with more than 485 aerial species found in the Masai Mara. Look for the majestic topi as he stands on top of anthills to survey the territory. Black-maned lions find refuge from the hot sun under the shade of baobab trees which dot the horizons. There is no better place for game-viewing.
